Global oil giant Saudi Arabia and Japan-based SoftBank announced they will invest $ 200 billion in solar energy project. The goal of the project is to produce 200 gigawatts of electricity from solar energy by 2030. At the press conference in New York, a 200 gigawatt capacity to be produced in the project was announced to spread throughout Saudi Arabia.

It is stated that the first two solar parks will produce 7.2 gigawatts of electricity, its construction will start this year and it will start to produce electricity in 2019. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia signed a memorandum between SoftBank Vision Fund and Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund. SoftBank CEO Son said that the project is huge and will support the creation of a local solar energy equipment manufacturing sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
